  1. voters saw little harm with regulating marijuana similarly to the way alcohol is. Colorado’s marijuana law passed with 54 percent support, and Washington’s with 55 percent. Colorado and Washington law for adults 21 years and older to possess up to an ounce of marijuana. In Colorado, people will be able to grow as many as six plants. In Washington, users will have to buy their marijuana from state-licensed providers. if you have over 1 ounce you get a fine of 100$. if you have 2-6 ounces you could be served jail time or fined up to 1,000$. you could not get arrested for having it. it is not legal to smoke it in public places. They estimate that taxing marijuana will bring in millions of dollars of new revenue for governments, and will save court systems and police departments additional millions. pot taxes could bring in hundreds of millions of dollars a year, but the sales won't start until state officials make rules to govern the legal weed industry.

  2. Colorado passed the marijuana law with 54% support. It seems as if Americans are becoming more and more accepting of weed because this year, 50% of Americans think that weed should be legalized, and that is 4% more than it was last year. However, the laws in Colorado and Washington regarding weed are a backlash against federal cannabis laws. Half of the country think that the federal marijuana laws should at least be loosened but Congress is not willing to discuss the marijuana policy.

  3. marijuana became legal in colorado because of the 54% vote to legalize it. it is similar to drinking in the way that you must be 21+ and you can not smoke it outside. in colorado, the most you can have on you without getting $100 fine is 1 ounce. although it is starting to become legalized in some states for recreational use, according to the federal government, it is still illegal. if they were to step in, people could still be arrested and tried in federal court. this law is said to take affect in about 30 days.

  4. As of a couple days ago weed was legalized in Colorado. Even though it is legal in that state it still violates the United States constitution. People in Colorado are aloud to have less than 1 once in their possession. If they have more than an once they can be fined $100. If they have several ounces they could have to serve jail time. Even though it is now legal people in Colorado won't be able to buy it in stores for several months.

  5. In Colorado Marijuana became legal. It has became legal because 54% of the population had voted to legalize it. Over an ounce of Marijuana can get you a fine and several ounces can give you time in jail. Just because it is legal in colorado dosnt mean it is completely legal to the federal goverment. It is stated in the constitution that marijuana is illegal so that means the federal government does not approve of the legalization of marijuana

  6. marijuana became legal in COlorado a few days ago because of the 54% vote to legalize it. the citizens from Colorado are allowed to have no more than one once. if you have more than an once on you, you will be fined $100. this law will become affective in a month. Peple in coloardo will start growing the plants themselves.

  7. Recreational marijuana is now legal in the state of Colorado. Originally only the use of medicinal marijuana was legal but after a vote, which showed 54% support, a doctors approval is no longer necessary. Colorado residents are permitted to carry up to an ounce of marijuana by state law but if a federal agent finds any amount of marijuana on them or growing in their home, they will be charged with a federal crime.

  8. After having the majority vote on this law, Colorado has legalized and regulated the possession of marijuana. The maximum amount allowed at once is 1 ounce, if you exceed this, you will be charged with a $100 fine. Furthermore, citizens who partake in this law must be at least 21 years of age. In the eyes of the federal government, it is still illegal to smoke pot and they can send people to jail or put them on trial in a federal court. This 64th amendment will most likely be put into action in about a month. I believe it will improve the economy and it is definitely beneficial to have regulations within it.

  9. as of November 6th, 2012 recreational marijuana was legalized in the state of colorado. this was due to the 54% support of the population who voted for it to be legalized. In order to have marijuana in your possession you have to be 21 or older and you are not able to smoke it out in public. The maximum amount allowed on someone is one ounce. if you are caught with more than that, you will be charged with a $100 fine. People are also allowed to grow no more than six plants. Although marijuana is legal in the state of colorado, it is still stated as illegal in the constitution which allows the federal government to step in if they please and have you tried in federal court.

  10. The people of Colorado and Washington state have voted to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. Marijuana is illegal under federal law, and the Obama administration must decide whether to enforce federal law in a state that has rejected the substance of that law. Possession of marijuana is made into a federal criminal case under 21 U.S.C. Section 844

  11. Colorado and Washington have become the first US states to legalize marijuana for recreational use. It is considered a criminal case if you are under 21 found with it as well as more than an ounce. It is still illegal under federal law, Obama's administration must decide whether to enforce the federal law in a state that has rejected the substance of that law.- CNN

  12. Marijuana has become legal in both Colorado and Washington by popular vote that was just over 50% for both states. Although the rules are not entirely lifted for the possession of marijuana, the legal amount that can be owned is very small and not illegal to be in possession of. Laws will be very specific for the usage and growth, and will continue to have illegal factors to it, including public or underage usage. The legalization of sales of marijuana may bring large revenue for taxes and boost the economy of said states and may even benefit the states for a the minor legalization of marijuana in these states. So long as the product is still under law and regulated and kept in safe usage of the users and taxed fairly, the newly legalized product may be a profitable and good change for both Colorado and Washington.

  13. Thanks to a vote of 54% in favor of legalizing marijuana in Colorado, it has been legalized according to the state, however it's still against federal law which trumps state laws. I see no real problem with this as long as there are rules, regulations and taxes to go along with the sale of it, similar to tobacco and alcohol. Many people will say not to legalize it because people would be driving while under the influence and can endanger lives but nobody ever thinks what if it had the same rules and regulations that apply to alcohol? It could only mean more money going into the economy to be honest. And people would be penalized if they bought/sold it and are underage, if they were driving while impaired, etc.

  15. Over 50% of the popular vote went to legalizing marijuana in Colorado. Anyone 21 and over can buy marijuana, but they can't have more than one ounce on their person or else there would be a fine. It will most likely be taxed in a similar way that alcohol and cigarettes are taxed and it can only be sold by licensed vendors.
Marijuana is still illegal according to the federal law. The 10th amendment reserves the right of a state to create it’s own laws, and so the federal government probably will not interfere with the Colorado government’s decision, but they do have the power to arrest anyone selling or in possession of marijuana.

  16. Colorado has passed a law legalizing marijuana in their own state for any one 21 or older. The maximuum amount that can be purchased is an ounce. Anything exceeding the ounce will result in a fine. Colorado will set up specific places for the purchases of marijuana ; the state would rather it not be sold and consumed out on the streets. The marijuana will be taxed, which is, of course, benefiting the state of Colorado. However, federal government overrides certain state laws. So in this case, technically the marijuana is still not fully legalized in Colorado.

  17. Amendment 64 has been approved. The use of marijuana in Colorado is now legal For people of the ages 21 and older as long as it is under one ounce. It should be consumed privately in the person's home and should follow the same expectations as alcohol, such as drinking and driving, smoking marijuana and driving. It is also legal to sell in a store as long as the owner has a permit. Private growth of marijuana is also legal in someone's own backyard with up to as many as 6 plants. The federal law states that marijuana is illegal, so this in any case can overrule the state law in Colorado.

  18. All of the initiatives would ask whether or not to legalize the use and possession of, at most, an ounce of marijuana for residents who are 21 and older.

Since the Federal Government does not recognize the legality of "medical marijuana," if you are prosecuted under federal law you will not be able to use any defense involving it. This means that even if your state has explicitly authorized you to grow marijuana, federal agents can still arrest you and you can be sentenced according to the guidelines above (and indeed this has happened). So if you grow marijuana legally in your state, you should contact a criminal lawyer about your rights, even if you haven't been arrested. An experienced criminal attorney will be able to explain all the risks in greater detail, as well as the complex interaction of federal and state laws in this issue.

  19. The 64th Amendment will most likely be approved in the upcoming weeks. The law that Colorado passed was for marijuana to become legal. The state of Colorado is passing the law that marijuana can be sold in stores, smoked, and grown in their own back yards. It states that you can only sell marijuana unless you have a permit for it. Technically the use of marijuana in Colorado is still not legal. Since there is a federal law against the us of it, the government can easily turn this law around and deny it. I think that if they do pass this, there will be a lot of laws about the use of it. I think they will make laws about it like tphow much you can use, where you can do it, and about driving.

  20. The federal government states any use of marijuiana is ilegal, however the state of colorado legalized it on november 6th, 2012. Calarado does have restriction on marijuana use such as if you are over 21 you can carry around no more then one ounce of marijuana, and you are allowed to grow marijana.Remeber this is the state not federal rule. Now if the feds come and find you growing and having marijana with you you will go to jail and if this does happen you getting arrested you should contact a criminal lawyer.

  21. Under Amendment 64, marijuana is legalized in Colorado. It is taxed and regulated. It gives state and local governments the ability to control and tax the sale of small amounts of marijuana to adults age 21 and older. It can also be grown in your own backyard. It is only to be used for recrecational usage. Legalizing marijuana will profit the state and bring criminal justice savings. Marijuanna is still illegal under the Federal law, so we will have to wait and see if Obama will enforce this in the state.

  22. Amendment 64 states that marijuana is legal in Colorado. Its now to be regulated like tobacco or alcohol, its taxed and it gives states the ability to control and sales of small amounts sold to people 21 or older. Its only used for recrecation use. By passing this amendment the state will now make alot more money and have less people arrested for marijuana usage but under the Federal law it is still illegal and theyre not sure whats going to happen yet but at any point in time theyre allowed to go into Colorado and arrest people.

  23. Amendment 64 says that marijuana is legal in Colorado. it is taxed and regulated and the small sale is controlled to people over 21 years older and this s for recreational use. by legalizing this is is going to produce a lot of money for the state and stop a lot of arrests. but the federal law still states that it is illegal which is the law of the land so that is what people must follow

  24. Marijuana is being legalized in Colorado, although the state has determined it as a law through a majority vote of the citizens, federally selling marijuana is a crime. Anyone caught with more then an ounce in states that are legal will be fined. If federal law decides to change the rules to make smoking marijuana legal they will be able to tax it and gain profit.

  25. Since 54% of people in Colorado voted to legalize marijuana, it became legal but the federal government never legalized it. This means that people can still be arrested and trialed in federal court because of smoking it or even in having it in their possession. To me, I do not see any problem of smoking marijuana because it’s a natural plant. Yes, people can lace marijuana but people can also spike alcoholic drinks and cigarettes are also increases chances of lung cancer. This will help economy incredibly by selling it and putting tax on it because I guarantee a lot of people in America smokes marijuana.

  26. On November 7, 2000, 54% of Colorado voters approved Amendment 20, which amended the State Constitution to allow the use of marijuana in the state for approved patients with written medical consent. Patients are allowed to have up to 2 ounces of marijuana on them at one time. To me, i don't see an immediate effect of the use of this drug. People should be allowed to do what they want but only for medical use. Marijuana should not be and never should be legal in any othe situation other than medicaly.

  27. The majority of peole in Colorado wanted to legalize the usage of marijuana. This is bad in the eyes of the federal law because people can still be arrested or charged if weed is in their posession. I dont see anything wrong with the usage of weed unless they abuse it. Weed is a form of a drug but should only be smoked in privacy of their own home. Some poeple need weed not for enjoyment gbut for medical purposes. It is not fair that they can not have their medical problems treated because people in the world abuse weed.
